Their studio album “Not That Lucky” was produced by Loyd Maines, Texas’ most in demand producer. This album ranked in the top 20 Americana albums for 2006. It wouldn’t be San Antonio without the great hard rock scene that permeates through this city. Union Underground was one of the hardest rocking bands in the San Antonio area during their stint from 1996 – 2002. Blending manic riffing, powerful vocals, and blistering solos, this band fed the metal machine in San Antonio and was able to satisfy their fans hard rocking appetite. The band released 2 albums and 2 singles during that time to sell over 400,000 copies and earned their place among the metal greats.

8: Katherine Dawn

Nominated for the 2010 Texas Music awards this talented San Antonio pop singer song writer has amazing soaring, gusty, elegant vocals which are a perfect compliment for her hard driving/delicate style of electric and acoustic guitar and bass. A few of her many achievements so far have included being the bass guitarist for the Ashlee Rose band, winner of the 2002 Kerrville Folk Festival, and being a Girls and Guitars performing artist.

9: Lil' Bit and the Customatics

This little jewel of a band from San Antonio can best be described as heartbreakin’ honky tonk-a-billy. Fronted by Jen "Lil’ Bit" Adams, this true Texas style honky tonk band delivers hillbilly, bluegrass, country and early rock and roll. Jen’s amazing Patsy Cline style vocals forge through the Telecaster guitar’s country licks and compliment the stand up bass with an authentic Texas sound like no other band.
